外国人の目から見た日本

Annie is from the Philippines. She has been running a restaurant in Adachi Ward, Tokyo for 25 years. Having witnessed Japan’s transition, she feels that younger generation in Japan today seems to be quite selfish and undisciplined. It is not uncommon for young people, who are the early-morning clientele, to swear at Filipino hostesses who are the same age as their parents. Annie seriously scolds these young people for their arrogance.

“I also have a son. If he behaves rudely to someone older than him, I will definitely get angry. It’s a shame for his parents. That’s why I scold anyone, even the customer.

When she first came to Japan, she was taught how to behave in this country by elderly men in Adachi Ward. She inherited those spirits.

That’s why I’m frustrated with the current Japanese people who can’t scold or get angry .In the Philippines, they scold other people’s children.
